Staff and Wire ReportsRAIN MAY BE PRECURSOR TO THUNDERSTORMS:
A wet June keeps getting wetter.
Heavy showers fell on Marietta around 4 p.m., and more rain is expected tonight and tomorrow.
Jim Dent, hydro-meteorological technician with the National Weather Service in Charleston, W.Va., said at 4:45 p.m. that a system was moving north through Washington County. There's a 50 percent chance of rain this evening with a slight chance of thunderstorms.
The chance for rain increases to 90 percent on Wednesday, along with the possibility of heavy rain, high winds and thunderstorms.
OBAMA: NORTH KOREA NUCLEAR AMBITIONS A 'GRAVE THREAT:'
WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama said Tuesday that North Korea's nuclear ambitions pose a "grave threat" to the world, and he vowed to end a cycle of allowing Pyongyang to create crises and then be rewarded with incentives to back down.
"This is a pattern they've come to expect," Obama said. "We are going to break that pattern."
Obama and South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, speaking to reporters in the White House Rose Garden, sought to portray a unified stance in dealing with North Korea's recent missile and nuclear tests and its threats of nuclear war in retaliation to sanctions from the United Nations.
Obama said the leaders agreed that the new U.N. resolution seeking to halt North Korea's development of nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles must be fully enforced. The U.N. did not authorize military force to enforce the measures.
Lee said he and Obama agreed that "under no circumstance are we going to allow North Korea to possess nuclear weapons." The communist-led North already has tested two underground nuclear devices and is believed by U.S. intelligence to possess enough material to make several nuclear bombs.
U.S. officials have said the North Koreans appear to be making preparations for a third nuclear test. North Korea also has said it would regard efforts to enforce U.N. sanctions as an act of war.
STALLWORTH SENTENCED TO 30 DAYS IN JAIL, HOUSE ARREST:
MIAMI (AP) - Cleveland Browns wide receiver Donte' Stallworth took full responsibility for killing a pedestrian while driving drunk in Florida and began serving a 30-day jail sentence Tuesday after he pleaded guilty to DUI manslaughter.
Stallworth also reached a confidential financial settlement to avoid a potential lawsuit from the family of 59-year-old Mario Reyes, according to Stallworth attorney Christopher Lyons. Reyes was struck and killed March 14 by Stallworth, who was driving his black 2005 Bentley after a night drinking at a swanky hotel bar.
"I accept full responsibility for this horrible tragedy," said Stallworth, 28, who was accompanied at the hearing by his parents, siblings and other supporters. "I will bear this burden for the rest of my life."
Stallworth faced 15 years in prison. After his release from jail, Stallworth must serve two years of house arrest and spend eight years on probation.
The NFL has said it will review the matter for possible disciplinary action. Lyons said the plea agreement will allow Stallworth to resume his football career.
Stallworth also must undergo drug and alcohol testing, will have a lifetime driver's license suspension and must perform 1,000 hours of community service. Lyons said after five years, Stallworth could win approval for limited driving such as for employment.

All this rain is hard on vegetables and fruits being grown in this area. Guess this means that the cost of fresh produce is going to be very high this summer. At least some farmers have managed to get some of their hay in.
