Pastor called to serve at Calais Church

Calais Church, an independent Baptist church at 29880 Miltonsburg Calais Road in Quaker City, has called Stan Anderson to serve as its pastor.

Anderson, who has 30 years of experience in the ministry, previously served as pastor of two churches in Ohio, as well as an assistant pastor in Pennsylvania and South Carolina. He is also a former dean of students of Massillon Baptist College in Massillon, Ohio, and served one term as a missionary in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, South America.

Anderson plans to bring to Calais Church a well-rounded teaching and preaching ministry for all age groups. He said he looks forward to seeing the church grow in number and unity and to reaching out into the community.

Anderson and his wife, Joan, have two married children and six grandchildren. Their daughter and her family are involved in a ministry in Texas and their son, along with his family, is entering the Army as a chaplain.

The new pastor extends an invitation for everyone to attend the services at the church. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday, followed by morning worship at 10:30. The Sunday evening service is at 7 p.m. and the Wednesday evening Bible study and prayer is at 7 p.m.

Tickets being sold for Oct. concert at MHS

Dunamis Concerts and P.O.W.E.R. Ministries is presenting 33 Miles, Pocket Full of Rocks and John Waller for a concert at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, in the Marietta High School auditorium.

Tickets are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. Tickets are $10 each for groups of 10 or more.

Tickets will be available starting Aug. 24 at Stoked Coffee in Marietta, and Christian Supply and Family Christian in Parkersburg. Tickets are also available by mail at Dunamis Concerts, 5745 Sandhill Road, Marietta, Ohio 45750. Those ordering by mail are asked to include $2 to help offset shipping costs.

A benefit car wash to help grow this ministry is being held Sunday, Aug. 16, at Sam's Club in Vienna, W.Va. Cost will be a donation.

The organization is also in the planning stages for another Dunamis Music Festival.

The Hoppers to give concert in Cambridge

The Hoppers will be in concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at the Pritchard-Laughlin Civic Center in Cambridge, Ohio.

The Hoppers' performance is being sponsored by Acts of Faith, a gospel quartet based in southeast Ohio that is opening the show.

The Hoppers, a family gospel singing group, has been presenting traditional gospel music for more than three decades. They have toured with the Gaither Homecoming show, which has played to more than 900,000 people per year in major sports arenas around the country. The group has received several group and individual awards and accolades.

Members of the Hoppers are Michael, Kim, Dean, Connie and Claude Hopper.

Some of the family's songs have included "Steppin' On The Clouds," "Shouting Time In Heaven," "Yes I Am" and "Jerusalem."
