Marietta man arrested for drug trafficking

From staff reports
POSTED: August 28, 2009

A Marietta man was arrested Wednesday for the fourth time on charges of trafficking in crack cocaine, according to a release from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Justin Simpson, 20, is under indictment on charges of manufacturing crack cocaine and was free on a personal recognizance bond for two prior arrests, the release says. He is in custody in the Washington County Jail on a $25,000 bond.

According to the release, Simpson was arrested by agents of the Major Crimes Task Force Wednesday night in the Brittigan Circle area of Devola after allegedly selling an undercover operative 2.35 grams of crack cocaine. After the arrest, detectives recovered the $200 in marked currency used in the purchase, the release says.

Simpson's charge was elevated to a third-degree felony because a 2-year-old child was present during the transaction, the release says.

Also arrested Wednesday was Stephanie L. Wright, 25, of 125 Millers Lane, Apt. C4, Marietta, who was in the vehicle with Simpson, Sheriff Larry Mincks said. Wright, under indictment on a charge of tampering with evidence, was charged with violating her probation. She is in the county jail without bond on a holder from her probation officer.

Pathetic. Why are these people allowed back out in public? They obviously have no desire to change their ways! I'm sick of seeing the same names pop up in the papers over and over. It makes the judicial system in this area look like a joke.

When are these judges going to throw the book at these criminals and get them off our streets, what I don't understand is why do these criminals just get a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again, HELLO when is the legal system going to WAKE-UP put these rats where they belong. I mean this is the fourth time this guy has been arrested for the same crime and more and still allowed to walk the streets. It's no wonder everybody says if you want to commit a crime come to Marietta,Ohio because you're never get caught, or they just slap you on the wrist and let you go do it again. Please when you go to sentence these guys don't be so quick to plea bargain with them give them the maxiumn sentence.

I wonder why the police arrest these, when it is obvious that the courts are going to slap them on the wrist and let them go.

What happened to "3 strikes your out"? The bad thing is,it wont do any good sending him to prison. The drugs are there and all he'll do is learn to commit other types of crimes and "bulk up".

Inmates should be held responsible for their own healthcare(Obama wants to stop paying veteran benifits, why should these people recieve it free),food costs, etc. They should be made to work a 40 hour week and pay back the taxpayers and the victims for their crime costs.

Wonder if his case will be dismissed due to lack of evidence?

The police are probably as sick of re-arresting these people as I am of seeing our tax dollars being spent doing so. Put them away long enough to "reform" them or decriminalize drugs. Sentences that don't offer reform for the offender odviously aren't long enough. Make the sentences long enough or stop making the police case these people. around.
