Dorothy M. Henthorn

Dorothy Marie Berg Henthorn, 85, of Sixth Street, Marietta, died at her home on Wednesday (Sept. 2, 2009) at 9:50 p.m.

She was born on Sept. 16, 1923, at her family's home in Fearing Township, Whipple, to Reinhold and Laura Zimmer Berg. She attended Oak Shade and Stanleyville elementary schools and Marietta High School. She worked for American Bisco Pottery. Dorothy was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church and belonged to the United Methodist Women.

On Nov. 26, 1946, she married John B. Henthorn, who preceded her in death on Feb. 11, 1999, after 52 years of marriage. She devoted her life to being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Linda Henthorn and Judy (Lynn) Wagner, and one son, Leroy Henthorn, all of Marietta; seven grandchildren, Lance (Katherine) Wagner, Kim (Scott) Wolfert, Rob (Jamiann) Henthorn and Tori (Al) Miner, all of Marietta, and Johnny and Jimmy Warren and Jill Barnhill of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 12 great-grandchildren; brother, Carl (Delores) Berg of Whipple; several nieces and nephews; and very special friend and loving caregiver, Lois Hasley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Almeda (Guy) Oliver; and two half sisters, Helen Stark and Katherine Gerken.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday (Sept. 6) at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Archer officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 p.m. on Saturday with family present from 5 until 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, Dorothy asked that memorial contributions be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, Attention Tribute Gifts, Church Street Station, P.O. Box 780, New York, N.Y. 10008-0780 (include note for whom you're honoring or to donor's choice).
