Gilman United Methodist Church at 312 Gilman Ave., Marietta, will be offering a "Growth in Christ" studies series from 7 to 9 p.m. each Sunday from Oct. 4 through Nov. 22.
There will be a choice of three topics available for those attending. The topics are "Getting Acquainted with the Bible," "Eleven Women of the New Testament" by Ellsworth Kalas, and "The Thirteen Apostles" by Ellsworth Kalas.
There will be a modest charge for the study books.
Also at the church, Pastor Diann O'Bryant is continuing with part five of her "Being A Come and See People" series at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 13. This week's message will be on "Caring Enough To Tell."
A "Homecoming Funday Sunday" will be held Sunday, Sept. 20, at the church. A message on "How Can I Experience Hope in the Midst of Fear?" will be delivered by O'Bryant.
Third-graders will receive Bibles on this day. After the worship service, there will be a picnic lunch in the church fellowship hall. There will be games for the children.
O'Bryant will speak on "How Can I Feel Secure In An Insecure World?" at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27.

Grandparents Day begins with breakfast
Tunnel United Methodist Church will be observing Grandparents Day on Sunday, Sept. 13, with a breakfast at 8 a.m. in the church fellowship hall.
The meal is being provided courtesy of the United Methodist Men.
Lloyd Dennis will speak at the 9 a.m. service at Tunnel United Methodist and also at the 10:30 a.m. service at Warren Chapel United Methodist Church.
Portraits offered at Norwood UM Church
Norwood United Methodist Church is offering the community an opportunity to have family, children or individual portraits taken Sept. 18 to 20.
Families do not need to be members of the church. Portraits will be returned in time for Christmas gifts this year.
Paul Richards Computer Services and Digital Photography is offering 8-inch by 10-inch family or individual portraits for $5 per sitting. Extra sittings and a variety of other photo packages at reasonable prices will be available.
Portraits may be scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18; 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19; and 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
Portraits will be taken at the church's Families Activities Center behind the church at Oakwood Avenue and Colegate Drive.
Proceeds from the project will benefit the church's Sunday school room renovation project and heating/air conditioning fund.
