From staff reports

It took nearly a dozen extra points over the required 25, but the Frontier Lady Cougars knocked off Beallsville to advance to the sectional final against St. John's on Thursday.

Frontier picked up a four game win with the first match going all the way to 31-29, 10 points over when most games end at 25 for one team.

Fort Frye outlasts

Monroe Central

BYESVILLE - The Fort Frye Lady Cadets and Monroe Central Lady Seminoles seem to have a passion for playing five games to determine the victor on the volleyball court.

During the regular season the two squads split their matchups, each winning on the opponent's home court, in five games.

That trend continued Tuesday night as Fort Frye eliminated Monroe Central from tournament play with a five game 25-18, 25-21, 13-25, 23-25, 15-12 win at Meadowbrook High School.

After winning the first two games the Lady Cadets dropped the next two as they couldn't quite put the nail in the coffin of Monroe Central's season.

Junior Alex Kuhn had 21 kills and Kayley Stephens added 15 to help the Lady 'Noles battle to keep their season alive, but it wasn't sufficient to overcome Fort Frye.

With the win Fort Frye will now play the winner of the West Muskingum and Shenandoah game at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the sectional final at Meadowbrook in Byesville.
