Marietta Church of God at 501 Colegate Drive, Marietta, is having a gospel sing and chili cookoff on Sunday, Nov. 15.
There will be a concert by Jim Blair and the Southern Gospelaires beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the chili cookoff.
Participants can bring their favorite pot of chili and see what the critics have to say. Those not bringing chili can bring cornbread or crackers.
The concert and chili cookoff are free events and everyone is welcome to attend.
Local women's club plans game night
The Catholic Women's Club is sponsoring a game night from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the social hall at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Fourth Street, Marietta.
Participants can play rotating euchre or any card or board game. Cost will be $6 per person. Food and drinks will be provided.

Couples night out to be at Sacred Heart
A couples night out is being held at Sacred Heart Retreat House in Torch on Friday, Nov. 20, beginning at 6:15 p.m. with a candle-light dinner catered by Chef Yancy.
The evening will include music, a talk, and a prayer service. Cost is $45. Children of couples attending are welcome and will have their own supervised activities and eats in the pool room area. Limited overnight lodging is available at the retreat house.

Trunk or Treat will be at area church
The Little Hocking United Methodist Church will be having a Trunk or Treat from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, at the church.
Children and adults from the community are encouraged to participate by dressing in costume (non-scary) or by decorating their vehicle. The event is open to anyone from the community who wishes to participate in the evening of safe fun and games by passing out candy or receiving it.
