H1N1 vaccinations

in Morgan County

Morgan County Health Department nurses and Medical Reserve volunteers will be in the Morgan Local Schools today and Friday to provide H1N1 vaccinations to children that have returned signed parental consent.

Without consent, children will not be immunized, but will have other opportunities to receive the vaccine at other clinics. There is no charge for the vaccination.

Little Hocking church has giveaway

The Little Hocking United Methodist Church, Federal Road and Ohio 124, will continue its sixth annual coat giveaway from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday.

The Saturday giveaway is canceled. T

his is the second week of the giveaway, so selection is very limited.

In addition to the coats, there will be some sweaters, sweatshirts, snow pants and winter accessories such as gloves, scarves, etc.

Unitarian service auction Friday

The First Unitarian Universalist Society of Marietta will hold its 2009 Service Auction Friday at the Knights of Columbus building, 312 Franklin St., in Marietta. The annual event is open to the public.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Light snacks, pizza and beverages will be available throughout the evening. A country store of donated items and services will begin at 7 p.m. The live auction gets under way at 8.

A sampling from the auction catalog includes a springtime excursion to Amish country, scenic New River train ride, four hours of plumbing or electrical work, guided historic tour of Marietta, labor to paint one room and various themed parties.

The Caring and Sharing Free Community Lunch will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Fourth and Putnam streets, Marietta.
