Frontier sponsoring Big Buck Confest

The Frontier Middle School eighth grade class is sponsoring a Big Buck Contest during Ohio's regular gun season, Nov. 30-Dec. 6. Entry fee is $10, and the winner will receive half the earnings.

The winner will be determined by the number of points on the deer. Points must be one inch or longer to qualify. Ties will be broken by the inside spread.

Judging will occur every evening of gun season from 6 to 8 p.m. in the far right end of the B& J Carry out parking lot in Newport. Each hunter will be photographed with the deer. The winner will be determined on Dec. 6. To enter, please obtain a registration form from any eighth grader.

Completed forms and $10 entry fee may be mailed to Shearon at 85 Woodland Drive, Newport OH 45768. Forms must be registered by 9 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29.

OVU volleyball clinic offered December 5

Local volleyball players will have an opportunity to advance their skills Saturday, December 5 as Ohio Valley University presents two volleyball clinics for girls (grades 5-8).

The two clinics take place December 5 for girls in grades 5-8. The clinic will include basic instructions in serving, passing, setting, digging, blocking, and attacking. The first clinic takes place from 9 a.m. to Noon and will focus on serving and defense. The second clinic will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and will focus on hitting and setting. Both clinics will be held at the Snyder Activity Center located off College Parkway in Vienna. Registration begins 30 minutes before the start of each clinic. Instructors for both clinics will include OVU Head Volleyball Coach Paul Jacoby, Justin Boyce and Chris Borling (former OVU volleyball assistant coaches) and varsity members of the OVU Fighting Scots women's volleyball team.

Jacoby brings over 30 years of intercollegiate coaching experience to the Fighting Scots women's volleyball program. The cost for each clinic is $20 per student or $30 for both clinics. T-shirts will be available for $7.
