Norman Ellis Wetz

Norman Ellis Wetz, 95, of Marietta, died Friday (Nov. 20, 2009) at Harmar Place.

He was born May 5, 1914, in Washington County (Highland Ridge) Lowell to the late Leo and Laura Born Wetz.

Norman graduated from Lowell High School in 1932, and retired from Marietta Concrete Co. and also was self-employed in oil and gas production. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, American Union Lodge #1 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge, Aladdin Shrine in Columbus, and Marietta Shrine Club.

Norman is suvived by daughters Christina Dowling (James) of Doylestown, Pa., Karen Wetz and Linda Crosby both of Marietta, grandchildren Michele Johnson (David) of Madison, N.J., Dr. James Dowling Jr. (Jacqui) of Ann Arbor, Mich., Jason Jennings (Jama) of Bay Village, and Jennifer Persechino (Joey) of Steens, Miss., great-grandchildren Nichole and Christopher Johnson of Madison, N.J., Sydney and Asher Dowling of Ann Arbor, Mich., Justin and Jared Jennings of Bay Village, Jessica, Nicholas and Isabella Ferrebee of Steens, Miss., a sister Ruby Fugazi of Oakland, Calif., and several nieces and nephews..

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Helen Millslagle Wetz whom he married Aug. 2, 1936, brothers R.O. Wetz, Francis Wetz and a son-in-law Richard Crosby.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hadley Funeral Home Reno Chapel 1021 Pike St., where the service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with burial to follow at East Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice in Norman's name. The family wishes to thank Harmar Place, Hospice and friends for their care and support.
