VIENNA, W.Va. - Plans are complete for the inaugural Alumni Choral Reunion for former chorus members from Northeastern Christian Junior College (NCJC), Ohio Valley College (OVC) and Ohio Valley University (OVU). Larry Bills, former choral director at NCJC, will be on hand to assist OVU director Courtney Clark and music department chair James Berry. Alumni singers will converge on the OVU campus June 4 to 6 for what promises to be one of the most significant alumni events of the university's year-long Golden Anniversary Celebration.
"Sister colleges and universities have welcomed a hundred or more alumni back to their campuses for similar events," Alumni Director Dennis Cox announced. "I see no reason why we should not expect that kind of crowd here."
"I am truly looking forward to this event," added Larry Bills, guest conductor. "I am hoping that a number of NCJC alumni will plan to participate."
The program begins Friday, June 4, with registration and a dinner. The evening will conclude with rehearsal from 7 to 9 p.m. Rehearsals on Saturday, June 5 will conclude with a banquet followed by a recording session in the Roberts Chapel.
"The decision to include the recording of a CD makes the event all the more significant," OVU Choral Director Courtney Clark noted. "We may feel the pressure during Saturday's rehearsals, but I'm sure the group will rise to the challenge."
The choir will conclude their weekend reunion with a concert at the Grand Central Church of Christ in Vienna, W.Va. during Sunday's Bible class hour beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Chorus alumni can complete their pre-registration online at www.ovu.edu/chorusreunion. There will be a $25 participation fee to cover the cost of music licensing, recording and postage.
The fee will be due on June 4 at Friday's final registration on campus. Pre-registration deadline is May 15.
