The 328-foot-long, 50-foot-wide amphibious USS LST-325 arrived in Marietta around noon today.
The vessel, a troop-landing ship that was at Omaha Beach on D-Day, will be docked near the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility at the confluence of the Ohio and Muskingum rivers. It will be open for tours from Friday through Tuesday before leaving Sept. 15 to return to its home port in Evansville, Ind.
It is the last intact, operational ship of its kind in the U.S.
