The Marietta Sandlot baseball league recently recognized its individual team leaders and awards at the season end banquet on Oct. 7.
The league's Most Valuable Players included Jesse Adams of Warren High School, Michael Wagner of Parkersburg South, Jonah Fryman of Fort Frye and his brother Josiah Fryman, a graduate of Fort Frye.
Jonah Fryman won the league batting title for the second consecutive season by slugging a tremendous .536 average including eight doubles, two triples and 16 runs batted in.
Adams finished with a .416 batting average, four doubles and 11 RBIs while Wagner finished with a .427 batting average and led the league in runs scored with 14.
Josiah Fryman finished with a .360 batting average and struck out an amazing 24 batters in 11 innings pitched on the hill.
Other players recognized by the league included Evan Sawyer of Marietta who was named as the league's Iron Man pitcher by leading the league with 32 innings pitched as well as Jonathan Cremeans of Marietta who led the league in RBIs with 17.
Warren eighth grader Jacob Wagner led the league for the second consecutive season with an on base percentage of .633.
Cody Isner of Warren and Kyle Worstell of Fort Frye were both recognized as the league's two best all around players for their versatility in the field, speed on the base paths and timely hitting at the plate.
Shortstop, outfielder and pitcher Michael Wagner was also recognized in his last year of eligibility for the Sandlot Baseball League with an all-time leader award. With eight fall sandlot baseball season under his belt Wagner stands as the Marietta sandlot baseball all-time leader in base hits with 221, doubles with 52, runs scored with 177 and games played with 154.
Michael Wagner also ranks second all time in mound victories with 16 and strikeouts with 107 and he also finished eighth on the all-time list with a career batting average of .406.
Also recognized as the 2010 sandlot baseball league all-star team were Josiah Fryman, Michael Wagner, Andrew Carpenter, Riley Bennett, Jacob Wagner, Cody Isner, Kyle Worstell, Seth Wilson, Jonah Fryman, Evan Sawyer, Jonathan Cremeans, Austin Cottrell and Jesse Adams.
