Emily Johanna Appleman, of Fairfax, Va., previously of Carrollton, Ohio, and Douglas Michael Morford, of Fairfax, previously of Clarion, Pa., are announcing their engagement and upcoming marriage.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Joyce Erb-Appleman and Donn Appleman of Glenn Dale, Md. and the granddaughter of the late Jacob Christian and Mary Lou Erb.

The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mary and Gary Morford, of Oak Island, N.C., previously from Clarion, Pa.

The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Carrollton High School, Six Sigma Certified, with a bachelor of arts degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C., class of 2004. She is a senior associate, Business Process Improvement at ICF International in Fairfax, Va.

The prospective bridegroom is a 2001 graduate of Clarion High School, with a bachelor of science degree from George Mason University in Fairfax, Va. in 2010, and a bachelor of science degree from Pennsylvania State University in State College, Pa., class of 2005. He is a senior IT security consultant at Booz Allen Hamilton in Herndon, Va.

Their wedding is being planned for May 21, 2011, at the Thomas Birkby House, Leesburg, Va. to be officiated by Harold "Jake" Jacobson of Grace Lutheran Church in Clarion, Pa.
