It was decided that Washington Technical College would receive no money for renovations or new construction from the Ohio Board of Regents' $305 million capital improvements proposal.

West Virginia Gov. Arch Moore said that disaster hucksters were preying on flood victims, trying to sell them goods or simply instilling them with false hope about the future. Twenty-nine counties in the state were declared disaster areas following devastating flooding that claimed 5,163 homes in the Mountain State.

30 years ago

Dingy old, plastic, gallon milk jugs are getting a second lease on life because of the Marietta Area Recycling Firm and a Cambridge firm. The jugs will be shredded for use in plastic sewer pipes.

50 years ago

The Marietta College Pioneer football team finished their best season in 24 years and its most victories in 37 years with six victories this year.
