Honor society announces new
Washington State Community College's Alpha Rho Gamma Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) recently announced a new project to help the children of the Marietta area.
The project is called "Coats for Kids" and will begin on Friday, Nov. 5. Phi Theta Kappa and the Marietta Times will be collaborating for this event with the Times donating the use of a large bin to collect the coats in.
The collection bin will be placed in the Commons of the main building on the Washington State campus, located at 710 Colegate Drive. Phi Theta Kappa will perform weekly pick-ups of the donated coats, with the project to continue until mid-December.
Phi Theta Kappa Advisor Brad Merritt requests all students, staff, faculty and community members to consider donating a good used or new coat for the area's children. Coats for adults will be collected, but mainly this event is for the collection of children coats and jackets.
Washington State's Director of Development and local Zonta Club President Gail Reynolds has additionally promised PTK that the Marietta chapter of the Zonta Club will donate any coats left over after their own event, "Unique Boutique", this winter.
