The River Cities Symphony Orchestra will join with two Marietta College choral groups for a Bach-Mozart Choral Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at St. Mary Catholic Church at Fifth and Wooster streets in Marietta.
Doors open at 6 p.m., and tickets may be purchased at the door prior to the concert. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for students age 13 years to college. There is no charge for students 12 and younger.
The combined chorus will include the Marietta College Concert Choir and Oratorio Chorus and will perform under the direction of Daniel Monek, associate professor of music and chairman of the college's Department of Music.
The orchestra will be conducted by Robert Turizziani, now in his 11th season as music director and conductor. He is also principal clarinet of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and has also appeared on several occasions as guest conductor with that group and other symphony orchestras.
The program will include Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, BWV 1048, Brandenburg Concerto No. 4, BWV 1049 and Cantata 140, "Wachet Auf," BWV 140 and Mozart's Adagio and Fugue, K. 546.
Featured vocal soloists will include Douglas Anderson and Jean Couchie Burnquist.

Anderson, a bass-baritone, serves as Marietta College's library director. Active as a professional choral singer, Anderson has performed with the Robert Shaw Festival Singers, the Carnegie Hall (N.Y.) Choral Workshop and the Heritage Chamber Singers of Greenville, S.C., as well as Cantari Singers and Opera Columbus, both in Columbus, along with a number of solo engagements.
Burnquist, a soprano, maintains an active schedule as a singer and teacher of voice. She has performed as a soloist with orchestras in Alliance, Columbus, Canton and Marietta. She received critical acclaim as the soprano soloist with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Vaughan Williams Antarctica Symphony. In addition, she has been a frequent soloist with the Canton Symphony Chorus.
Burnquist has sung the soprano solos in Marietta College's "Messiah" since 2000. Since 1987, she has served as a soprano soloist and section leader for Christ Presbyterian Church in Canton. She has presented several master classes at Marietta College.
This is the eighth concert Turizziani and Monek have collaborated on featuring a combined chorus and the orchestra.
Marietta College is sponsoring the event, along with Artsbridge Inc., the National Endowment of the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts, Ohio River Border Initiative and the Oakland Foundation.
