Marion ‘Frank’ Wilson

NEWPORT - Marion "Frank" Wilson, 87, Newport, Ohio, died Saturday (Feb. 26, 2011) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

He was born June 25, 1923, in Cadiz, Ohio, to the late Lloyd and Dolly Davis Wilson. He was a retired Marine with 34 years in the service, receiving two purple hearts. He was a veteran of World War II, Korea, and the Vietnam wars. Frank was also a retired carpenter retiring from the West Virginia Carpenters Union. He was a member of the Newport United the Methodist Church, the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans.

Survivors include five grandchildren, Chris Cline, Amy Williams (Don), Tammy Rutter (Tom), Jimmy Bird, Jr. (Sarah), and Denver Bird; 10 great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Ethan Williams, Ashley Rutter, Koty Ryan, Kayleigh, Jonna, and Chase Baker, Jesse and Justyn Bird, and Jaden Bird; one great-great-granddaughter, Emma Rutter; several nieces and nephews; and his baby, the family dog, Brandy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Betty Virginia Henthorn Wilson; two daughters, Patricia (Wilson) Cline, and Carolyn (Wilson) Bird Adkins; and a sister and brother.

Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Ingram Funeral Home, St. Marys, W.Va., with Pastor Byron Bufkin officiating. Interment will follow in Matamoras Cemetery, New Matamoras, Ohio with military graveside rites. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
