The Pioneers defeated Adrian (Mich.) 3-1 and lost 2-0 to Adrian 2-0 Saturday and came back Sunday to rout Medaille (N. Y.) 17-0.
It was a pair of pitching duels in the Pioneers' season-opening doubleheader.
Mark Williams (2-0) pitched 8.1 innings of five-hit ball, walking none and striking out 10, in MC's 3-1 win to offset an eight-inning, six-hit, 10-strikeout performance by Adrian's Ryan Domschot.
Tim Saunders had a double and two singles for the Pioneers who scored twice in the fifth inning on a walk, Evan Brockmeier's single, Saunders' RBI single, and an error. Back-to-back singles by Britt Meador and John Snyder and Braden Park's single produced ta run in the sixth.
Adrian's David Partyka (1-1) fired a five-hitter in the Bulldogs' second-game shutout in a battle with Marietta's Austin Blaski (1-1) who worked the distance and allowed six hits, only two earned runs, walked three, and fanned seven.

The Bulldogs (4-3) scored in the first inning on a wild pitch and in the fifth on a triple by Cody Meyer and a groundout.
The Pioneers belted out 17 hits against Medaille (2-1) with Braden Park connecting for three and Tyler Haskin, Evan Brockmeier, Aaron Hopper, and Tom Fulton pounding out two apiece. Hopper drilled a bases-loaded triple in a 10-run fifth inning and drove in four runs.
Casey Levens (1-0) pitched the first seven innings in the shutout, allowing four hits, walking one, and striking out seven.
The Pioneers were scheduled to play Ohio Wesleyan at 1 p.m. today and Bluffton at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Myers, a sophomore, finished the season 50-0 and earned the program's first state title since 2002. He was third in Division I 112 as a freshman at Cincinnati Moeller.
Border, a junior, finished 43-3. He placed in the state for the third straight time, posting a fourth in Division III 103 as a freshman and seventh in Division III 112 as a sophomore.
Myers led 4-2 after one period before pulling away in the second.
"I got a takedown, kicked him out and another takedown and kicked him out, and I knew I wasn't losing," Myers said.
Chaffin walked two and fanned nine and also doubled home two runs as the Pioneers scored all their runs in the fourth inning against MSJ (0-2). Katie Swejk had an RBI triple and Michelle Sayre an RBI double in the inning.
Albion's Kaitlyn Downey pitched a five-hitter in the second game with Trayla Likes banging two singles and a double for three of the Pioneers' hits. Albion (3-1) got 10 walks and had nine hits, including two doubles by Samantha Kolling and a single and homer by Alyssa Castillo.
MC plays Bluffton at 1 p.m. and Trine (Ind.) at 3 p.m. today.
