OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Alex Ryan Miller, 25, of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Marietta, suddenly passed away Friday (March 25, 2011) at his residence. He was born in Marietta, a son of Martin L. and Lorraine (Studer) Miller of Marietta.

Alex graduated from Marietta High in 2003, and furthered his education by graduating from Marietta College with a degree in petroleum engineering. He then started working in Oklahoma for the Chesapeake Energy Corporation. He currently worked for the Sand Ridge Energy Group as an engineer.

Alex was an avid outdoorsman. In keeping with his father's example, he loved to hunt, fish and shooting sports. He participated in Triathalons and was an excellent guitarist. He was also a Black Belt in Shao-Lin. Most importantly, Alex was a Christian and displayed his love for the Church and his God in his daily walk of life. He was an active member of the Memorial Road Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, where he was a small group leader. Alex touched many people's lives and will be missed by all.

Surviving in addition to his parents are two brothers, Dr. Nicholas Miller and his wife, Stephanie, of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Seth Miller and his wife, Annika, of Marietta; his twin sister, Abby Vaughan and her husband, Joshua, of Davisville; a niece and two nephews, Lucas and Lillian Miller and Kellen Miller; and his maternal grandparents, Beverly and Emerson White of New Philadelphia, Ohio.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Grand Central Church of Christ in Vienna, W.Va., with Evangelists Joe Spivy and David Powers officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Church. Committal services will be at the Eastlawn Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Petroleum Engineering Scholarship Fund in memory of Alex, c/o Marietta College, Dr. Robert Chase, 215 Fifth St., Marietta, Ohio, 45750.
