HARTFORD, W.Va. - Nellie Mae Smith, 87, of Hartford, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday (April 13, 2011) at her residence with her family at her side.
She was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Hartford, W.Va., the daughter of the late William Sr. and Nellie (Wein) MacKnight.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Smith Jr.; sisters, Addie MacKnight, Julia MacKnight; brothers, George Adam MacKnight, William MacKnight Jr.
She was a loving mother of a daughter, Shirley (Edgar) Wright Jr. of Marietta, Ohio; and a son, John H. IV (Bonnie) Smith of Hartford, W.Va.; a caring grandmother of Michelle (Jeremey) Tate of Hermitage, Tenn., Michael (Desiree) Wright of Madison, Tenn., John H. V (Courtney Long) of Hartford, W.Va., Ian Thomas (Shareen) Smith of Letart, W.Va.; great-grandson, Jordan Wright; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are at 1:30 p.m. Sunday (April 17, 2011) at Foglesong-Roush Funeral Home, Mason, W.Va., with the Rev. Rex Young officiating. Burial is in Graham Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. E-mail condolences to foglesongroush@wirefire.net.
