Melissa Lang and Alex Canavan were united in marriage on Oct. 16, 2010, at Friendship Ridge Christian Fellowship in Belpre with Pastor Dave Ellenwood officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Candice Armstrong of Waterford and Dennis Lang of Whipple. The bridegroom is the son of Richard and Carol Canavan of Newark, Delaware.
Presented in marriage by her brothers, Jason Lang and Mark Lang, the bride wore an ivory, chiffon split front A-line gown with pleated surplice bodice and beaded empire waist with a sweep train. She wore a Swarovski crystal and pearl tiara with a Monique two tier beaded fingertip length veil with scalloped edges.
Amanda Stollar served as maid of honor. Bridesmaid was Carly Canavan, the bridegroom's daughter. They wore strapless, Sangria fog foil chiffon split front A-line gowns with a beaded bust.
The flower girl, Jassandra Lang, niece of the bride, wore an ivory T-length satin dress with a four layer tulle skirt. She carried an ivory satin basket and tossed sangria petals.
Best man was Brian Rhodes. Groomsman was Devin Canavan, the bridegroom's son. Ringbearer was Lucas Canavan, nephew of the groom. The bridegroom wore a black tuxedo with an ivory shirt and tie. The groomsmen and ring bearer wore black tuxedos with ivory shirts and black ties.
The bride's sister, Hannah Lang, was the guest book attendant with help of the bride's niece, Jennessa Lang, and bride's nephew, Jacob Lang.
Soloist, Shannon Bina, sang "Surprised by Joy" during the couple's lighting of the unity candle. As the new couple was announced, bagpiper Joe Quick, friend of the groom, led the couple out.
A dinner and dance reception was held immediately following the ceremony at the Adelphia in Marietta. Following the reception, the couple honeymooned in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
