I would like to take a moment and say a special "thank you" to the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department and squad personnel. On Sunday, May 8, my 7-year-old son, Mason, was riding his 4-wheeler when he fell off and suffered a very serious compound fracture to his right elbow. I was not home at the time, just my wife and her sister. They explained to me that although they were scared, that the responding EMT's put them at ease with their professionalism and calm demeanor to our entire family. From our home he was transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital and then transported from there to Nationwide Children's Hospital trauma unit in Columbus, where he underwent surgery the following morning. So from Mason, myself, my wife Missy, and my daughter Mazie, we would like to thank Joe Gebczyk, Jack Church, Cheryl Cline, John White, and Bill Benton for taking the time out of your Sunday to be our heroes.
All too often it goes unsaid or unnoticed that there are people in your community that give up countless hours of their lives and take time away from their families to train and attend classes so that they are ready any time day or night for any emergency situation. I would like to encourage everyone to please attend the annual ice cream social or any other fundraisers that your volunteer fire department may have, those funds are used to purchase equipment that may save your life or the life of someone you love and care about.
Again thank you very much to the Barlow Volunteer Squad personnel for being my little boy's hero.
Steve, Missy, Mazie, and Mason Coe
Barlow
