June 26, 2014
Associated Press

ALEXANDRIA, Ohio (AP) — The State Highway Patrol says three young people are dead after a car struck a tree in central Ohio.

Multiple media outlets report two teenage girls and a teen boy riding in the backseat of the car were killed by the early Thursday afternoon crash which split the car in two.

Reports say the male driver and a male passenger were both taken to Columbus hospitals.

Police say the car was speeding and initial indications were that seatbelts weren't being used.

The accident happened in Alexandria, about 35 miles east of Columbus.
