Frederick E. and Betty M. Becker Sr. of Marietta are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 19, 1961, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Churchtown by the late Monsignor Charles Highland.
She is the daughter of the late Theresa Audrey (Arnold) Land and the late Lewis J. Lang of Marietta.
He is the son of the late Kathryn (Schenkel) Becker and the late Paul Becker of Warner, Ohio.
She was a teletype operator for The Marietta Times in the early 1960's. After being a homemaker she returned to work for Hills Department Store for 11 years.
He retired in 2006 after 37 years of service at Eramet and currently farms and raises beef cattle.
They are the parents of four children: Janet Becker of Wapakoneta, Ohio; Barbara and her husband Myron Brooker of Marietta; Frederick E. Becker Jr. and his wife Tricia (Dye) of Whipple; and Loretta and her husband Sean Parks of Marietta.
They are the grandparents of: Nathan James Weekley of Lima, Ohio; Kyle Thomas Weekley of Plainfield, Ind.; Abby Jo Brooker of Marietta; Megan Nichole Becker of Whipple, Ohio; and Faith Elizabeth Becker who is deceased.
The couple will celebrate with a family dinner.
