Kenneth and Myrtie McVicar will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary on July 15.
He is the son of the late Malcolm and Ethel McVicar. He joined the Navy in 1942 and became an aircraft mechanic. He was on the USS Boxer Aircraft Carrier on the way to Japan when WWII ended. He was in the Navy for nine years, then was in the Air Force for 11 years and after he retired he became the head mechanic for Rambar Aviation at Parkersburg.
She is the daughter of the late Ivan and Alice Blauser. She graduated from Ohio University and taught at Little Hocking School after he retired from the Air Force.
They have three daughters: Christine (Andy Weisgerber) McVicar; Vicki (Jeremy) McDonie; and Nancy McVicar. They have four grandchildren: Ian (Angie) Whan; Caleb Weisgerber; Zoe McDonie; and Griffin McVicar. They have one great-granddaughter, Audrey Whan.
They live at 685 Warrior Drive, Apt. #9, Vincent, OH 45784.
