Waste removal pushed back for Labor Day

Rumpke waste removal and recycling collection service will not occur Sept. 5 due to the Labor Day holiday. Service will be delayed one day the rest of that week. Monday's collection will move to Tuesday, Tuesday's collection will move to Wednesday and so on.

Regular collection will resume the week of Sept. 12.

Reno Lion's Club to hold Schwan's truck fundraiser

The Reno Lions Club will hold a Schwan's truck fundraiser from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Marietta Township Park and Recreation Center.

The fundraiser will benefit Lions service projects.

Beverly village committee to meet later today

The Village of Beverly Lands, Buildings, Parks and Recreation committee will meet at 7 p.m. Aug. 29 at the village office, 919 Mitchell Ave., Beverly.

Rifle club to host women target shooting clinic

The Fort Harmar Rifle Club will host the area's seventh annual NRA Women On Target Shooting Clinic from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 24 at the outdoor range. There will be giveaways and prizes. The cost is $30, with everything provided from firearms to lunch.

The clinic is open to any woman who wishes to learn about shooting handguns, rifles and shotguns. The course is for women only.

Golf scramble to benefit Frontier cheerleaders

A golf scramble fundraiser will be held by the Frontier High School cheerleaders Sept. 3 at the St. Marys Golf Club. There will be a 9 a.m. start. Teams of four players are required, with an entry fee of $50. Lunch will be provided and there will be prize giveaways. To enter a team, call the golf course at 304-684-3557.

Petitions to run for fair board director available

Petitions are available to run for Washington County Fair Board director at the fair board office. Those running for director must be at least 18, a resident of Washington County and must purchase a $25 membership ticket. There are 10 directors to be elected. Petitions are due back to the secretary by 7 p.m. today.
