CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (AP) — Four men have been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a popular northeastern Ohio restaurant owner.
Police in Cleveland Heights in suburban Cleveland say Brennan's Colony owner Jim Brennan was shot during an attempted robbery at his restaurant Monday and later died at a hospital.
Preliminary charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery were filed Thursday in Cleveland Heights Municipal Court.
Cleveland Heights Police Chief Jeffrey Robertson tells the Northeast Ohio Media Group the shooting is being investigated as gang-related.
Police said Wednesday five suspects were in custody. The status of the fifth suspect was unclear Thursday. There was no information on attorneys for the four suspects.
During a news conference Wednesday night, Robertson called the suspects "cowards" who "preyed upon an innocent business owner."
