Richard S. Danver, 86, of Beavertown died at his home on Monday (Nov. 21, 2011). He was born on Sept. 17, 1925, at Beavertown, the son of the late William H. and Lois McMasters Danver.
He was a member of the Parr Hill Community Church. He had been employed as a scheduler at Olin Matheson Aluminum Co. in Hannibal, Ohio, before retiring in 1979. He was a veteran of World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was also a member of American Legion Post 378 in New Matamoras and was a life member of VFW Post 5108 in Marietta. He received the 2005 Elder Caregiver of the Year Award and had been a musician with the Buckeye Rythemaires band.
On Jan. 25, 1946, he married Thelma J. Henthorn, who preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 2007.
He is survived by two sons, Richard S. Danver Jr. (Sharon) of Lubeck, W.Va., and William E. Danver of New Matamoras; two daughters, Barbara R. McFeely (Jim) of New Matamoras and Lorrie L. Danver of Pickerington, Ohio. Also surviving are six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his special caregiver, Douglas Hendershot.
One son, Charles E. Danver, one sister, Mary Talbot, and two brothers, William H. Danver and Kenneth Taylor, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (Nov. 23, 2011) at 11 a.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home in New Matamoras with David Beaver officiating. Burial will be in the Matamoras Cemetery Friends may call at the Hadley Funeral Home on today (Nov. 22, 2011) from 4 to 8 p.m.
