CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Democrat Nick Casey still maintains more than a 2-to-1 cash edge after Republican Alex Mooney outpaced him in fundraising last quarter.
Mooney reported raising about $432,000 compared to Casey's $332,000 haul from April through June.
Casey has $873,000 in the bank for his West Virginia congressional bid against Mooney, who has $352,000 cash on hand.
The two candidates' campaigns announced the fundraising totals Monday. Second quarter numbers are due July 15.
Casey is the former West Virginia Democratic Party chairman. In Maryland, Mooney served as state Republican Party chairman and as a state senator.
Both are vying for a district stretching from the state's western border on the Ohio River to the Eastern Panhandle.
Republican Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito is vacating the seat to run for U.S. Senate.
