It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of James Emory Allen of Waterford, Ohio, on Friday (Jan. 20, 2012).
He was born June 29, 1927, in Athens, Ohio, son of Emory Allen Sr. and Frances Everhart Allen. He owned and operated a dairy farm in Athens and had a milk hauling business in Athens, Washington and Muskingum Counties. He was proud of being a 60-year member of the Constitution Masonic Lodge No. 426 at New Marshfield, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife, Elma Willett Allen; two daughters, Donna Ringer and Kay MacFarlane (David), both of Palm Desert, Calif.; his brother, Bernard Allen (Loretta) of Athens; and several nieces and nephews; two grandchildren, Robert J. Ringer (Leah) of Albuquerque, N.M., and Chad Ringer of Vail, Ariz.; two great-grandchildren, Jack and Abby. Special gratitude to nieces, Beverly Allen Dellinger and Bonnie Allen Smith for their extraordinary devotion, loving care of and concern for our Dad during his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Emory Allen Jr.
Funeral services will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home in Beverly at 1 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday. A Masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Alexander Presbyterian Cemetery near Athens.
