The Marietta Times

Marietta College will offer two free community shows at its planetarium this weekend and in February and March.

The college will be showing "The Winter Sky," at the Anderson Hancock Planetarium at 7 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Sunday.

This program will allow the audience to look at the winter night sky from the comfort of Marietta College's Planetarium. There will also be a repeat presentation of "Oasis in Space."

Reservations for the shows are currently ongoing. Large groups planning on attending are encouraged to make a reservation. To reserve your free spot, call 376-4827 or send an email to planetarium@marietta.edu. They will also be accepting donations at the conclusion of each program and those without reservations will be admitted on a space-available basis.

In February, Ann Bragg, director of the planetarium, will be showing a children's program that will include a look at the current evening sky, along with the full-dome video "Secret of the Cardboard Rocket." All ages are welcome for the shows at 7 p.m. Feb. 23 and 2 p.m. Feb. 26. Reservations for the February shows begin Feb. 6.

The college hopes to have a new program to show in March. The dates are set for 7 p.m. March 22 and 2 p.m. March 25. Reservations for March shows begin March 12.

The Anderson Hancock Planetarium is located on the Marietta College campus on the corner of Fourth and Butler streets. Handicap parking is available.
