Allie Kate Varner and Joshua Michael Adams were united in marriage at 2:30 p.m., June 25, 2011. The ceremony was held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Marietta with the Rev. Monsignor Michael Campbell officiating the double ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Randall and Susan Varner of Marietta. She is the granddaughter of Don F. Davis and Viola Varner.
The bridegroom is the son of J. Michael and Patricia Adams of Springfield, Ohio. He is the grandson of James and Joanne Adams.
The bride is a 2005 graduate of Marietta High School and a 2009 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in molecular genetics. She is currently studying at the University of Cincinnati pursuing her doctorate in cancer and cell biology.
The bridegroom is a 2005 graduate of Springfield North High School and a 2009 graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in microbiology. He is currently employed at Cincinnati Children's Hospital as a research assistant in infectious diseases.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an ivory, strapless silk organza gown with a sweetheart neckline and A-line skirt. The bodice was accented with shirred organza with a gray satin ribbon with floral detail tied at the waist. She wore a fingertip length veil edged in satin ribbon. She carried a clutch hand bouquet of white peonies and ivory Vendella roses with the stems wrapped with satin ribbon. Attached was a handkerchief belonging to her maternal great-grandmother and a rosary belonging to the bridegroom's maternal grandmother.
The maid of honor was Margo Rice. Bridesmaids were Mallory Adams, sister of the bridegroom, Kelsie Graham, Marietta Belfanti and Emily Giles. They wore plum colored strapless cotton knee length dresses and carried clutch hand bouquets of white peonies, lavender Mayfair alstroemeria and purple lisianthus with the stems wrapped with purple satin ribbon.
The best man was J. Michael Adams, father of the bridegroom. Groomsmen were Matthew Jenkins, Shannon Smith, Aaron Serafin and Bastian Selman. Ushers were David Graham, Jeffrey Hooper, Isaac Nayak and Patrick Reville.
John Ontko was the organist and Jennifer Simmons was the vocalist. Guests were registered by Kevin Handy and Stephanie Zimmers.
The reception followed the wedding at the Marietta Shrine Club.
Following a wedding trip to St. John, USVI, the couple resides in Cincinnati.
