Faces around the cross series begins

Gather, Praise, Seek (GPS), a Contemporary Worship Service offered by Tunnel United Methodist Church will be held Feb. 26th. There will be a gathering at 11 a.m. for coffee, juice and light refreshments, with worship following at 11:15 a.m. Pastor Richard Thomas will be beginning a Lent series on "Faces Around the Cross" and will lead an informal discussion. All are welcome to this time of contemporary Christian music, and worship. Tunnel Church is located on Ohio 550 at Tunnel, four miles west of Marietta.

St. Marys Church chili cook-off

St. Marys Church will be holding a chili cook-off on Feb. 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. in the church social hall at Fourth and Wooster streets. The cost will be $5 for all-you-can-eat. Vegetable soup will also be available.

Symphony orchestra teams with MC

The River Cities Symphony Orchestra and Marietta College will be presenting Schumann, Mozart & More Choral Concert at 7 p.m., Feb. 26, at St. Marys Church, Fifth and Wooster streets in Marietta. Schumann's Requieum, Op. 148 with Degra Rentz, soprano; Amy Yekel, alto; Christian Lindsey, tenor; and Doughas Anderson, bass. Mozart's Flute Concerto in G with Lindsey Gooman, flute soloist will be performed. The doors will open at 6 p.m. The conductor and music director will be Robert Turizziani. The choral director is Daniel Monek.

Bible Center choir to present program

Myron K. Guiler, pastor of the Marietta Bible Center Church will preach in the 10 a.m. service on Feb. 26. His message will be, "Jesus Prepares His Disciples for His Crucifixion." He will also preach at the 6 p.m. service with the message being "Daniel's Prayer Life."

Joe Offenberger will lead the Bible study at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29. He has just completed a trip to Moldavia and will give a report during the service.

The Marietta Bible College Choir will present a program at the Wagner Union Church in Marietta at 7 p.m. on March 2.

Lenten fish fries at

St. Marys school

All-You-Can-Eat Lenten fish fries will be held at St. Marys School every Friday through the Lenten Season. They will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at St. Marys Catholic School Parish Center on Third Street in Marietta Fridays until March 30.

The menu will include fish (fried and baked), baked potato, french fries, cole slaw, green beans and applesauce. A la carte items will include nachos and cheese, Dominos pizza and dessert. The cost will be $8 for an adult dinner, $7.50 for a senior dinner and $4 for a child's dinner. Nachos, pizza and dessert will be $1.

Call ahead ordering will be available with curbside delivery by calling 374-9156 between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Enter through the school alley from Montgomery Street, Marietta. Take out dinners will be $7.50 and sandwiches will be $3.50.

Sand Hill church hosts soup supper

Sand Hill United Methodist Church in Reno will be holding a soup supper on March 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. The menu will include a variety of soups, hot dogs, dessert and beverage. A free will offering will be taken.

Election Day bake sale at Sand Hill

An Election Day bake sale, sponsored by Sand Hill United Methodist Church at Reno, will be held beginning at 6:30 a.m. on March 6. The sale will be held at Marietta Township Recreation Center, 260 Sandhill Road in Reno.

Steak dinner for Harvest of Hope

Washington County Harvest of Hope will be hosting a baked steak dinner and silent auction on March 10 at Christ United Methodist Church. Dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The auction will be opened from 4:30 to 7 p.m. The cost will be $8 per person with children under the age of five for free. Dinner will include baked steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, coleslaw or applesauce, dessert and a drink. Tickets are being pre-sold by calling 374-5676.

Free meal, clothing giveaway March 7

A free meal and clothing giveaway will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 17 at Faith United Methodist Chuch. The church is located at 503 Seventh St., Marietta. The meal and giveaway is held the third Saturday every month
