Jack William Jones, 84, of Marietta, formerly of Belpre, passed away on Friday (April 27, 2012) at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on Sept. 15, 1927, a son of the late John W. and Helen Duskey Jones.
Jack was a U.S. Air Force veteran and graduated from Ohio University. He had worked at the former St. Joseph's Hospital for 31 years as a senior vice president. Jack had served on the Belpre Board of Education for eight years, was past member of the Belpre Chamber of Commerce, past president of West Virginia Chapter of the Hospital Financial Management Association, past member of the West Virginia Health Systems Agency and had served on the Blue Cross board of directors.
He and his wife had been members of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, where he had served in various capacities including with the finance committee.
Jack is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marjory Jean Zimmerman Jones; daughters, Lynne Ann Utter and Joyce L. Jones, both of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; two grandchildren, Michael Utter and Jennifer Utter.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his sister, Eunice A. Neal.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Belpre, with the Rev. David Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in Rockland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday prior to the service.
The family has requested memorials be made in Jack's memory to St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 302 Maple St., Belpre, Ohio, 45714.
