Senior recognition assembly at MHS

Marietta High School will hold its annual Senior Recognition Assembly at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the high school auditorium. The Class of 2012 will march in caps and gowns for the ceremony. Various scholarships, awards and special honors will be presented to the students. Parents and community members are invited to attend.

Extension classes about vegetables

Cindy Styer, Family Nutrition Program assistant for Ohio State University Extension, will present classes on vegetables at area libraries in May. The free classes will start at 1:30 p.m. in Marietta Monday and Beverly on May 23. Participants will be able to sample carrots with tomatoes and macaroni.

Tiger Athletic

Boosters to meet

The Marietta Tiger Athletic Booster Club will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the Marietta High School cafeteria. All coaches, parents and anyone interested in Marietta sports are invited to attend.

Steak fry Saturday

at Legion Post 159

A steak fry will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Post 159 in Williamstown. The cost is $8 per person.

Dinner, gospel and country music event

The Decatur Community Association will sponsor a dinner with live gospel and country music from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Cutler Community Center, 4550 Two Mile Run Road, Cutler. The menu will be all-you-can-eat spaghetti, tossed salad, garlic bread, homemade desserts and coffee, tea, or lemonade. The cost is $7 for adults or $4 for children 6 to 12. The dinner this month will be hosted by The Cutler Ladies Aid. Musicians will be hosted by Jim Blair and Friends with special singers New Legacy and Jimmy Howson. Proceeds benefit the Cutler Community Center.

Free lunch Tuesday at local church

First Presbyterian Church of Marietta will offer a free lunch for the community from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday. The church is at Wooster and Fourth streets with the entrance off Wooster Street. Everyone is welcome.
