Two Marietta College employees will always have the honor of saying they retired at the same time as President Jean A. Scott.
On Tuesday, May 8, the entire campus said good-bye to those two long-time employees - Dr. Sid Potash, Professor of Human Resources, and Mabel "Sunny" Hill, Building Services Custodian - during the annual employee recognition program at the College.
The college also celebrated 590 years of service by 52 employees in the Hermann Fine Arts Center.
Potash joined the faculty in 1974, while Hill joined the College in 1990.
Dr. Michael Taylor (Business and Economics) was recognized for 35 years of service to Marietta College, while Steve Beck (Information Technology) and Dr. Fred Voner (Geology) were honored for 30 years of service.
25-year awards: Jeanne Arbuckle (Athletics), Vickie Brown (Mailroom), David Gibbs (Physical Plant), Linda Kinney (Physical Plant), Karen Reynolds (Physical Plant) and Linda See (Student Life).
20-year awards: Dan Jones (Petroleum Engineering & Geology).
15-year awards: Linda Cramer (Library), Eric Fitch (Environmental Science), Michael Lancaster (Physical Plant), Gene Newlon (Physical Plant), Peter Thayer (Library) and Bill Vincent (Recreation).
10-year awards: Susan Allender (Advancement), Bill Bauer (Education), Cheryl Canaday (Alumni), Miranda Collins (Physician Assistant), Rick Gibbs (Physical Plant), Christy Hockenberry (Leadership), Laura Pytlik (Petroleum Engineering & Geology), Mark Theobald (Physical Plant), Wendy Thieman (Athletics), Sue Thomas (Physical Plant) and Jennifer Zide (Financial Aid).
