The Marietta Times

Another school year has come to an end, but the learning continues for two upcoming college seniors. Melanie Hendershot, senior English major with a concentration in creative writing and double minor in leadership and theater, and Linzy Smith, senior Public Relations major and political science minor, began their summer internship in the marketing department at Marietta Memorial Hospital.

Hendershot is a local resident of Marietta and will enter her fourth year at Marietta College. As well as being the co-editor of Pulse Literary Magazine for the school, she also worked in the writing center, assisting students with their written work. Smith, a Parkersburg native, attends Waynesburg University, a private school located in Waynesburg, Pa., where she is a member of Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) and many other organizations.

"We're excited to have their supporting efforts for the health system," said Jennifer Offenberger, director of marketing and public relations. "They will both have numerous opportunities to work on individual projects, use their writing skills and coordinate events for our departments."

Hendershot and Smith began their internship Monday, May 14, and will continue to be a part of the marketing team until the new school year commences in August.
