Caring Connection reports on free tax service

May 29, 2012
The Marietta Times

In January, I wrote to The Times to ask that Caring Connection in Marietta be added to your list of locations that could prepare free income tax returns. I thought your readers might be interested in how our program turned out. From Jan. 17, the first day electronic returns could be submitted, through April 17, Caring Connection processed, through The Ohio Benefit Bank's tax software, 198 state and federal returns. Refunds totaled $125,375. The Ohio Benefit Bank estimated that clients also saved $18,711 in processing fees, though some clients told us that they had previously paid as much as $300.

Caring Connection is a Washington County United Way Agency.
