Warren's Emma Ryan, Fort Frye's Derek Spindler, and Morgan's Kristie Marcum each has stood on the awards podium on the Jesse Owens Memorial infield at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championship on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Last year, Ryan earned All-Ohio in the discus while Spindler did the same in the pole vault.
Marcum was an all-stater in the long jump in her freshman season of 2009.

The trio of student/athletes are of course hoping to be recognized again at the 2012 state meet. If Ryan does achieve her goal, it will be the junior thrower's third straight year of medaling in the discus event.

A two-day event, all of the state track and field action got underway this morning.
At 9 a.m. Saturday, all of the remaining field events are scheduled to resume. The championship running is slated to begin at 1 p.m. and the final events of the day begin at 3:10 p.m.
A couple of things about today's running qualifying races. Beginning last year, the OHSAA takes nine to the finals, but scores only eight. In meets past, the top four in each event advanced to the finals, but this season, it's the top two in each heat and then the next five best times regardless of heat.
All of the Division III field events will be held today in two shifts. The first shift is scheduled for 1 p.m., and the second will be approximately three hours later. Spindler, Huck, Hoffman and Farmer each is hoping to be standing on the podium today.
Grosel, Marietta's lone Division I qualifier, is scheduled to pole vault at 3 p.m. Saturday. Last year as a junior, she was 11th in the event.
Also, Ryan is slated to throw at high noon Saturday.
