MC students enter Phi Beta Kappa

Fifteen Marietta College seniors were recently inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa society, which was established in 1860 at the college, during a special ceremony in the Trustee Conference Room of the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center on Monday, April 30.

The inductees, all graduated on May 13, were Monica Dimick '12 (Soldotna, Alaska), Laura Finck '12 (Junction City), Anna Gill '12 (Canal Winchester), Sarah Griffin '12 (Mentor), Sara Harp '12 (Kenton), Jennifer Kuebel '12 (Cambridge), Bethany McFarland '12 (Cuyahoga Falls), Xiaoyue Ni '12 (Chengdu, China), Whitney Putillion '12 (Ripley, W.Va.), Casey Smith '12 (Marietta), Amber Vance '12 (Washington Court House), Will Vance '12 (Wilmington), Emma Vierheller '12 (Orrville), Michael Wiley '12 (Chambersburg, Pa.) and Rachel Worthington '12 (Lowell).

- Dimick, a graduate of Soldotna High School, will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

- Finck, a graduate of Fisher Catholic High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

- Gill, a graduate of Canal Winchester High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Middle Childhood Education.

- Griffin, a graduate of Mentor High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Leadership.

- Harp, a graduate of Ridgemont High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.

- Kuebel, a graduate of Cambridge High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management.

- McFarland, a graduate of Harvey S. Firestone Senior High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Accounting.

- Ni will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics.

- Putillion, a graduate of Ripley High School, will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

- Smith, a graduate of Marietta High School, will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.

- Amber Vance, a graduate of Washington Senior High School, will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry.

- Will Vance, a graduate of Wilmington High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics.

- Vierheller, a graduate of Orrville High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics.

- Wiley, a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, will receive a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.

- Worthington, a graduate of Fort Frye High School, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Accounting.

To be considered for election to membership, a student must be of good character and must have achieved a scholastic record of outstanding excellence in a broad program of studies, the major part of which must lie within the area known as the liberal arts and sciences.
