A body found Wednesday night in Morgan County is believed to be that of a Plain City man missing for more than a week after an alleged shooting south of Malta, the Morgan County Sheriff's Office announced this morning.
According to a release from the sheriff's office, deputies responded around 6:51 p.m. Wednesday to a report of a body being found. Additional details were not included in the release and were not immediately available.
Morgan County Coroner Dr. David Parrett came to the scene, along with agents from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation. Parrett pronounced the victim dead at 10:30 p.m., and the body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office for an autopsy.
The release says the body is believed to be that of John Davis III, 36, last known address 8565 Smith-Calhoun Road Lot 124, Plain City. He was reportedly shot three times in the head by Timmy Stevens, 39, last known address 1206 Greenwood Ave., Zanesville, after an altercation on Morgan County 2 south of Malta. Both men were gone when deputies arrived.
Deputies are still looking for Stevens, who the release says should be considered armed and dangerous. Any information about his whereabouts is asked to be reported to the sheriff's office at 962-3333.
