Anglers win at catfish tourney

The ninth annual Frontier FFA Catfish Tournament was held on June 2, at Bob's Place in New Matamoras.

Winning the flathead division was Jay Berentz from New Matamoras. His catfish weighed 38-1/2 pounds. and was caught near New Matamoras. The second-place winner in the same class was Dillon Metheney from Matamoras. His catfish weighed 33 pounds, 4 ounces and was caught near Grandview. Winning first place in the channel cat division was Ben Bowersock from Reynolds Run. His catch weighed in at 8 pounds, 6 ounces. Damon Metheney took second place in the same division with a channel cat weighing 7 pounds, 12 ounces. The first-place winners received $150 and the second-place winners won a rod and reel catfish combo purchased at Backwater Baits in Newport. Bob Eckert hosts catfish tourneys every Saturday evening at his place in New Matamoras.
