On Saturday, June 16, Friends of Lower Muskingum River, in conjunction with the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission (ORSANCO), conducted a trash cleanup of the Muskingum River at three locations near the dams in Devola, Lowell and Beverly.
Below Devols Dam, 20 volunteers removed three pickup truck loads of trash from the banks of the Muskingum River. Special thanks go out to the Girl Scout Troop 155, Dough Boyz Pizzeria and the FLMR members who made this a very successful cleanup.
Near Beverly Lock 4, Boy Scout Troop 222 volunteered its time to clean up 18 bags of trash (and larger items unable to fit into trash bags). Seventeen participants helped out with that cleanup, and a huge thanks goes out to everyone who attended.
Special thanks also goes out to the Women of the Moose, chapter 2261 in Lowell, whose 18 participants cleaned up a truck load of trash from the banks of the Muskingum near Lock 3 and Buell Island in Lowell.
If you would like to conduct a cleanup or volunteer your time to help cleanup part of the Muskingum River please call the Friends of Lower Muskingum River at (740) 374-4170.
