A state of emergency remains in effect Sunday, after a violent storm ripped through the Mid-Ohio Valley Friday leading to power outages for most of the region and beyond. Thousands remain without power locally, including some portions of Marietta.
As of 5 p.m. Sunday 18,316 AEP Ohio residents in Washington County remained without power.
Marietta residents are asked to boil their water until further notice as pumps are out at the wastewater treatment plant. In Williamstown, Mayor Jean Ford has said if power isn't restored Sunday the city will have to shut off water service Sunday night.
Cooling stations are available at Lookout Park in Marietta and New Matamoras Elementary School. Oxygen for those with medical conditions is available at Marietta Memorial Hospital.
The Washington County Courthouse will be closed Monday, as will Ewing School and the Wood County summer school program. If you have additional closings, please call 740-376-5445.
