Post 64 shrimp and beer dinner Friday
American Legion Post 64, Eighth and Wooster streets in Marietta, will hold a shrimp and beer dinner from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday. There will also be a round and square dance from 7 to 10 p.m. with 4 hits and a miss. The cost for the dance is $4 per person. There will be a 50/50 drawing. The event is open to public.
Marietta church plans water night
The Marietta First Church of the Nazarene, 100 Mill Creek Road, will hold a WIGBY (Wednesday In God's Back Yard) water night July 11 for children ages 3 through children going into the sixth grade. Activities begin at 6:45 p.m. and end at 8 p.m. Children should bring a towel, wear a T-shirt over a swim suit or can wear shorts and T-shirts. There will also be sno-cones.
Jar basket weaving class July 11
A jar basket weaving class will be held at 9 a.m. July 11 at the O'Neill Center in Marietta. The cost is $27, which covers all supplies and instructions for the basket, which is woven over a quart canning jar. Master basket weaver Linda Eschlager will give instruction and helpful hints to create a one-of-a-kind basket. To register, call 373-3914.
Reno Lions plan community yard sale
The Reno Lions Club will hold a community yard sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 12 and 13 at the Marietta Township Recreation Center on Sandhill Road. Space is available for $12 a day and tables are $5 for use both days while they are available. Set-up begins at 6 p.m. July 11.

Video, discussion on Civil War campaign
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War will present a video and open panel discussion of the 1862 Seven Days Battles of the Peninsula Campaign at 7 p.m. Thursday at the American Legion, Eighth and Wooster streets, Marietta.
Anchorage porch sale July 27
The annual Anchorage porch sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 27 and 28. There will be clothing, ladies gowns, toys, games, books, household items, framed pictures, antiques, uniques. The sale is sponsored by The Washington County Historical Society. There will be Anchorage tours. Donations are suggested for the tour.
