Kate York, I applaud you for your bravery and forthright approach in discussing the child sexual abuse issue. The series has been informational while showing the intense emotion and life changing experiences felt by the victims. Thank you also for giving hope to these children. Your story is inspirational. Healing is possible and the children can move pass these scars to become successful adults.
I also applaud Washington County Children Services, especially Lee Ann Bates and Ginger Davey for their commitment to child advocacy. They are an asset to our community. Thank you for presenting the articles on Tuesday to show the Counseling and Intervention Services available through Washington County Children Services. It is impressive to see the difference they are making in this community one child at a time. Frankly, nothing can change the trauma faced by these children but it is good to know healing can occur as a result of direct intervention, counseling, and support.
My prayer is neighboring counties within Ohio recognize child advocacy as the priority and similar programs are developed to support the ongoing needs of the child.
