John and Debbie Karas of 20 Maple Shade Drive, Devola, are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. They were married July 9, 1972, in Plainfield, N.J.
He is the son of the Rose Karas of Mingo Junction, Ohio, and the late John "Yonk" Karas. She is the daughter of the late Harold and Helen Horel.
They both are retired teachers, teaching their entire career for Marietta City School District. They now both teach part-time at St. Mary Catholic School in Marietta.
They have three children: Jennifer (Ben) of Marietta, Brian (Betsy) of Westerville, and Todd (Meaghan) of Upper Arlington.
They have six grandchildren: Claire and Katelyn Schenkel and Andy, Kellen, Ashlin and Michael Karas.
They will have an anniversary dinner with their family at the Buckley House.
