Work to clean up, restore power is appreciated

July 6, 2012
The Marietta Times

Thanks to the hundreds of crews working tirelessly to restore power to everyone in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

While many residents continue to suffer in hot conditions with no electricity, many times more have seen their electricity restored in recent days. It's been welcome relief.

It's because of the work of the electrical crews, road crews, cable crews and more who have been out day in and day out to clear debris and repair or replace damaged poles and lines. It's hot, exhausting work and it's being done in temperatures near, or even reaching, 100 degrees.

We appreciate their efforts, knowing some are returning to homes where electricity has yet to be restored. It was reported one lineman suffered heat exhaustion this week. It's true that we are all in this together.

For those who still do not have electricity, we know how frustrating it is to go without for so long. In this heat, having no electricity isn't just an inconvenience, it's dangerous.

That's why the crews are working double and triple shifts, working through the holiday and doing everything they can to get the lights back on and life back to normal - for everyone.
