The Marietta Harbor Project's cost increased because of the demolition of several buildings and compliance with the federal flood plain regulations. The price was driven up from the original $297,000 to about $341,000.
Intersection construction at the intersection of Seventh, Putnam and Glendale streets has increased to $30,800, which is roughly $8,000 more than expected. Marietta College has pledged $7,700 toward the bill. Improvements to the intersection include the rounding off of curbs and the removal of parking spaces on Putnam Street in which a turn lane will be added.
The Marietta Senior High School will play a special march during the bicentennial celebration. "The Bicentennial March" was written by Ray Bumgardt of Dayton and has been performed once, as a practice, at a previous parade.
